What do I do if 4 zeros are added to values after the decimal sign?

As per the “What’s New” release notes included in the 2015/2016 Individual Tax Module release the following has come to our attention:

“We have noticed that some users might have experienced an issue where 4 zeros are added to all values in the product after the decimal sign, or in instances where no numerical values display on the Individual Tax Module home screen, particularly when using Windows 8 versions. This is as a result of changes made to regional settings by Microsoft. Should you encounter this issue, please refer to the frequently asked section on our website and the CaseWare Africa Community.”

  Answer:

Regional settings requirements for TaxWare, ITM and CTM

The errors described above and certain other errors will occur to the numerical values included in TaxWare, ITM and CTM. These errors may have a basis in the Windows Regional settings for the user's PC or office Domain environment. Each PC has its own individual regional settings or the values are determined or pre-set across an entire office or company environment. These issues have appeared since the release of Windows 8 and in subsequent versions of Windows.

Subsequently, the cause of these errors would in most cases appear to be related to the use of the (defaulted by Windows) decimal symbol set as a comma instead of a decimal point in the Regional Number and Currency settings. This would affect values after the decimal point to be treated inconsistently with their numerical values as required by the TaxWare, ITM and CTM products.

We suggest that the Decimal value as set in the regional settings (for Number and Currency) are reviewed to confirm that the Decimal symbol in both areas is set to the use a decimal point and not a comma. In the Domain environment this may not be visible to the individual computer user as it is set on an overall Domain environment and needs to be reviewed at that level.

To access your number formats settings screen, follow these steps:
