What to do I do if I do not have the proper access rights to open this file directly?

I am attempting to open a Caseware file however I receive a message stating that I do not have the proper access rights. How can I resolve this issue?

Steps to follow:

Note: Only users assigned to a group with the rights to open client files directly will be able to open Caseware files. These rights can only be assigned to the group by the Data Store Administrator.
  1. Open Caseware Working Papers | Click on ‘Protection Setup’

  1. Only the the Administrator will have the rights to log in to the data store and assign global rights to users and groups connected to the data store.

  1. Once logged into the ‘Global Users and Groups’ Protection Setup, right-click on the the group the user is assigned to and select ‘Properties’​
  2. A ‘Group Profile’ dialogue will appear. Select the ‘Rights’ Tab
  3. Under Category ensure that the ‘File’ option is selected
  4. Tick the ‘Open client file directly’, then click OK

  1. Once the group has been assigned the rights to open a client file directly. The user assigned to the group will now be able to open the Caseware file
