Caseware Working Papers | What are the risks and impact of Time Tampering for your firm?

Published:  21/06/2023
What are the risks and impact Time Tampering for your firm?

  Answer:

The cause of “Registration error code 26” or “Time Tampering” on Caseware Working Papers is caused after a date/time modification to your workstation system clock. The Caseware Working Paper application detects the changes made and the  Time Tampering Cleaning Wizard is executed.

We strongly discourage the change of your system time due to the following:

  • Productivity loss in resolving  “Registration error code 26” due to downtime
  • This also prevents files from being given falsified date/time stamps by manually resetting the system clock and then saving the file.
Even though you are able to change the date and time of your system clock, a log is kept for this modification.
  • Changing your date/time will affect not only Caseware Working Papers but other software on your computer. Many programs rely on having a proper time to run correctly and you could have further issues.
