What to do when copying formatting (firm settings) across Caseware files
What to do when copying formatting (firm settings) across Caseware files
Published: 16/05/2023
What is the best approach to apply the formatting (firm settings) from one Caseware file to another?
Answer:
To copy the formatting of the financial statements across files; think of File1 where the formatting is (ie. the file we will be copying the formatting from) and File2 where you want to copy formatting to.
1. Ensure to set up and save the settings and formatting of each page in the financial statements in the Firm Settings document (10.10.02) of File1. Access this document from the document manager. This will launch a CaseView document listing first the entire set of financials as Document, then the header and footer of the document and then each page.
2. Click on the Format button to make changes to the settings and format of that page and click on ‘’OK’’ to save changes
3. Once the formatting is done in File1, you are ready to copy it to File2. This will be done by copying components. From File1, go to File | Copy Components.
4. Select to Copy Into An Existing File.
5. Browse for File2, select the Caseware file and click on ‘’Next’’ to continue
6. Select the components to copy; in this instance you are want to copy the Firm Settings document. This means you would select Documents from the Components list and then 10.10.02 Firm Settings from the Documents. Click on ‘’Next’’ to continue.
7. Next you will be required to select, of the components you are copying, the data you wish to clear in the destination file. Select the checkboxes of the data you wish to clear and click on ‘’Next’’ to continue. Do not select anything if there is nothing to clear.
8. The wizard will have completed. Click on ‘’Finish’’ to confirm.
