If CaseWare Working Papers is unable to launch a database file (.DBF), either the file is not a true data file or its header has become damaged.

If there is a recent backup available, follow these steps:

  • Browse to the client file backup location in Windows Explorer.
  • Copy the “…**.dbf” file that was named in the error message.
  • Browse to the damaged file location in Windows Explorer and delete the damaged file named in the error message | Paste in the backup file and rename the backup file to match the original file’s name.
  • Delete all “*.cdx” files amnd open the file in CaseWare Working Papers.
