CaseWare Working Papers | What to do when you recieve a message alert stating "CaseWare has stopped working"?

I received a message alert that CaseWare has stopped working when opening my CaseWare Working Papers file, how do I resolve this?

  Answer:

Follow these steps to resolve:
  1. Close the CaseWare Working Papers software.
  2. In the Windows Explorer, go to the CaseWare folder usually found in C:\Program Files\CaseWare.
  3. Locate the file "CV.VER" that is in the CaseWare folder and open it in the Notepad application. (Hint: sort by file type to find this file easily)
  4. Once opened, please copy DisableScanning=1 on the next available line and save the file.
  5. Open the CaseWare Working Papers software and then open a client file.
