What do I need to tag and how do I know if this is correct?

  Answer:

When using the automated tagging within Caseware, all mandatory items on the Financial Statements will be tagged, except for line items called “Other” or custom changes to the line item description.

The mandatory items for this submission to CIPC are:

Mandatory information page:
  • All fields here are required to be completed, either in the document or from the Information Store.
  • You will notice some fields require a footnote if the value is zero or no information is applicable to the entity being reported on.
Statements that have been block tagged and line items that must be tagged individually including totals are the Statement of financial position, comprehensive income, profit and loss, changes in equity and the cash flow statement.  The work that you will need to complete is as follows:
  • Although already tagged on your behalf, there may be white spaces like other liabilities 1, 2 or 3, that are not auto-tagged as we do not know what you have disclosed (These cells need to be tagged by you).
  • Custom changes on the statements would need to be reviewed and modified by yourself using the tag button in the ribbon.
  • The total column in the SOCIE will need to be tagged but all other movements/columns can be ignored. Please tag any white cells which represent untagged items.
