What is the difference between XBRL and XBRL Lite?

  Answer:

The following is an outline of the differences between the iXBRL solutions offered by Caseware Africa:

  • If your AFS ARE NOT drafted in Caseware Working Papers, then you will be using the XBRL Lite template. Kindly ensure the IFRS / IFRS for SME XBRL Lite template(s) is/are installed.
  • If your AFS ARE drafted using Caseware Working Papers, you will need to ensure you have the latest IFRS/ IFRS for SME template(s) installed 

This article will take you through the XBRL process for Annual Financial Statements (AFS) that were drafted in Caseware Working Papers (Hereafter referred to as Caseware AFS) and the XBRL Lite process for Annual Financial Statements that were NOT drafted in Caseware Working Papers (Non-Caseware AFS like PDF  documents) 

 

XBRL Process (Caseware AFS)XBRL Lite Process (Non-Caseware AFS)
Open the Annual Financial Statements (AFS)Create a new file based  on iXBRL Lite template
Click on the XBRL button on the template toolbarComplete the Engagement Properties
Complete the mandatory informationActivate your license
 Complete the fields applicable for the statements and mandatory information 
Review Tagged information
Validate and resolve any diagnostic errors
Export your AFS to iXBRL
Submit your iXBRL AFS to CIPC
