How to resolve "error executing script" message
How to resolve "error executing script" message
Published: 14/08/2018
When opening the financial statements or audit programs (CaseView documents), I get an error that the required scripts cannot be found or are missing, how do I resolve this?
Certain functions (for example changing the formatting of the AFS or adding directors' details) run certain scripts, which is a set of programs required to perform these functions.
These Scripts are installed into the Caseware directory when installing the master templates.
The error message appears as it cannot find the specific script in the Scripts folder in the Caseware directory. This may be because:
The templates were not installed on the PC,
The anti-virus was not disabled during installation and it blocked these scripts or
The files were copied from another PC without copying the Scripts folder.
Answer:
To resolve this error follow these steps:
Reinstall all the templates onto your machine that is applicable to you
The issue you are experiencing may also be related to your workstation permissions or your organisation’s Anti-Virus settings. Please make sure of the following:
- Check you have full admin rights on your local machine to install the software
- Add Caseware to your company’s list of safe software on your anti-virus settings
- Exclude the following file types from scanning in your Anti-Virus settings - dbf / fpt / cvw / cdx
Please note that you may need your IT specialist to assist you with this.
Copy the scripts from the Script folder of another desktop into the Script folder of the desktop getting the error.
