How to add a new mapping number (including a Flip map number)

How do I add a new mapping number or a flip mapping number?

Instructions:

KINDLY NOTE, NEWLY CREATED MAPPING NUMBERS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY PULL THROUGH TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. YOU NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOU INSERT A TABLE ROW LINKED TO THE MAPPING NUMBER OR INSERT THE MAPPING NUMBER WHERE APPLICABLE

Adding of Mapping Numbers

In Caseware Working Papers, select Account and click on Assign mappings
Under mapping numbers, right-click on the mapping item you'd like to add to and then select New Mapping Number
Insert the name of the new mapping number
Click on the ellipses thereafter to add the extended description. Copy and paste the new name four times with a vertical bar (pipe) in between as shown below | Click OK
Click on Add thereafter and then OK

Adding of Flip Mapping Numbers

Some mapping numbers have a Flip map number (eg Loans) and you will need to create the flip map number as well. If the liability is assignable, you can just follow the steps above. If it is however unassignable, there are additional steps that must be followed below.

For the example above we have created a Loan to shareholder 11 under the Non-current asset section. You will have to create a mapping number in the Non-current liability section but as it is unassignable, you are required to perform the following additional steps.

Example: The mapping number for the Non-current asset is 1.1.2.140.100.600.000.000.11010.011 while for the Non-current liability, it will be 1.5.2.140.100.600.000.000.11010.011.

After you have created the new mapping numbers in the Assign Mapping Screen, select Engagement and click on Mapping menu
If the column, Map No (Flip) is not showing, right-click, and click on Show | Map No (Flip)
Search for the new map number in the asset section, 1.1.2.140.100.600.000.000.11010.011 and paste the new liabilities map number in the Map No (Flip) column
